The Ninth bi-annual TALC conference has taken place. Almost 100 people from all six continents made it the considerable success that it was deemed to be. The six keynote speakers delved into an impressively wide range of topics and there were over 50 presentations and posters demonstrating the breadth of applications and the depth of commitment that this community shares. The four workshops all attracted a good number of participants. To see the extent of presentations, see the timetable

All sessions were videoed and many photographs were snapped. There were new appointments to the Program Committee, some venues for TALC 2012 were nominated and the publication of Proceedings from 2006 and 2008 were announced. It is hoped that the Proceedings of TALC 2010 will be published as a book by Masaryk University. As details of all of these things become available, information will be posted here.

The organisers would like to thank all who took part.

Original Text

Our next bi-annual conference will be held in July 2010 in Brno, the capital of Moravia, the southern half of the Czech Republic.

The Teaching and Language Corpora conference is a platform for practitioners in this broad sub-field to present their work, their findings, their skills, their ideas. In bringing people together from all over the world, the conference is a time of great camaraderie. Many friendships and professional relationships have been forged with every conference seeing the return of old hands welcoming new ones.

The use of corpus data is well-established in the production of teaching resources and with increased computer power, new software and corpora, new data analysis tools and range of areas for data interpretation, this is a most dynamic area.

In addition to these aspects of corpus use, TaLC2010 hopes to see an emphasis on a wide range of classroom applications of corpus use.

For a complete list of the conference's key topics for presentations, demonstrations and workshops, see Call for Papers.

We look forward to meeting you in Brno for bounteous personal and professional exchanges.
