Call for Papers
The Call for Papers is now closed.
Following the previous eight successful TaLC conferences, TaLC 2010 will take place in Brno, Czech Republic, July 1st to 3rd. Workshops will be offered on the previous day. The official language of the conference is English.
It will bring together practitioners and theorists with a common interest in the use of corpora for:
- first and second language teaching and learning (including data driven learning materials and student-centred linguistic investigation)
- language awareness raising
- teaching languages for specific purposes
- teaching interpreting and translation
- teaching culture and history
- teaching literature
- developing pedagogic grammars and learner dictionaries
- teacher education
- specialised corpora for teaching and learning: multi-modal, learner, LSP etc...
TALC2010 invites proposals for position papers, reports of work in progress, case-histories of successful corpus applications, and introductions to relevant new resources. Proposals may be for 30-minute papers or posters or software demonstrations.
We also welcome proposals for pre-conference tutorials and workshops. This year, we would particularly like this to include hands-on workshops on the following, although other proposals will be considered.
- the use of corpora for language teaching, in teacher training and in the developing of language teaching resources.
- statistics for corpus studies
- corpus construction
- corpora for translation teaching/training
All proposals should be approximately 750 words. Please upload proposals for papers, posters, software demos to the Talc2010 website by 1st February 2010. And pre-conference tutorials and workshop proposals by 15th February 2010.
*Note: Proposal deadline extended until the 10th March.
All proposals will be blind reviewed. Authors of those accepted for inclusion will be notified at the beginning of April.
